Last Thursday we held our first connection day - a day dedicated to inspiring each other to think differently, finding better ways to connect and taking advantage of dedicated time to all be in one room and learn from each other. Here our Partner, Ruth Clarke, reflects on the day and why it's so important to moving us forward as a business.
I am immensely proud of what we have achieved in our 28 years trading as a creative consultancy. And, what a journey it has been. Having survived and thrived during the boom and crash years, here we are 2 years on (near enough to the date) from when we all packed up our macs to work remotely and head into the unknown era of the Coronavirus pandemic. Rather than reflect heavily on our story during this time, today I want to focus on the bright future.
For 2022 we’ve been developing the right strategy that leans on cultivating relationships, creativity, and high performance. Given the times we are in, we take nothing for granted and our purpose, "Inspire to think differently", is at the very heart of this plan. Our purpose will help us continue to build the business we want to be, to take our talent on this journey and to lead our clients with human and engaging experiences that take their business to the next level. We also recognise that as a leading independent agency in the UK, we have a responsibility to create a more sustainable and inclusive future - and play our part in shaping that for good.
Last Thursday we launched our first ‘Connection Day’ for our people. We discussed the vision for our business and the plan to move us all forward, harnessing the great work we’ve done and the foundations we’ve built across our services, capability and new relationship wins.
As we move into a new era of a hybrid working, we no longer refer to the old days as normal. But one thing we do know, is that in order to truly thrive, we need find better ways to connect. Connection fuels why you chose to work at Six and why you want to work with us. We’ve ripped up the old playbook and are finding new ways of leading and working – and it’s scary but invigorating at the same time.
Our Connection Days will run monthly. The prime focus will be inspiring each other to do things differently, taking advantage of dedicated time to all be in one room and learn from each other.
Fostering a connected culture is deeply important to all businesses. We work for numerous large and complex global organisations to help them figure out how to engage every corner of their business – it’s literally what gets us out of bed in the morning. We’re all on a journey working out what’s most effective and what suits each unique business; it’s something Six are truly passionate about, both for ourselves and our clients.
We’ll be sharing more about our own journey; and I’d love to hear from others too. For an informal chat, please do reach out: ruth.clarke@six.agency
